Barpak – Laprak Trek with School Project

Barpak Laprak Trekking

It’s the experience of unparalleled beauty, where your eyes can feast on the enthralling beauty of nature; it’s the experience of adventure, where every step encourages another step to move forward without looking back, it’s the experience of a peaceful life away from the usual skyscrapers. Moreover, this time it’s also an experience of hardship, where your eyes can witness the earthquake life of people in the remote villages of Gorkha, Barpak, Laprak, Gumda, and Lapu. The beauty, culture, and hospitality of these villages in the Gorkha district of Nepal have never failed to attract tourists in the past. However, the destructive earthquake on 25 April 2015 very badly shattered the settlement making almost everyone homeless, jobless, and hopeless.

Therefore, this trek recommended by Dream Adventure trek is designed to attract your attention to these areas to help these people get back to normalcy while helping you fulfill their dreams of trekking the trails of Nepal. Despite the destruction, the remote track, the Himalayan panorama, the diverse scenery, and the unique culture are very welcoming and the people here are still ready to serve their guests with the best they can offer.

Starting in Kathmandu, this 11-day Barpak Trek with Project in School itinerary will take you to the five main beautiful Gorkha villages, Barpak, Laprak, Gumda, Lapu, and Lapubesi, where along with the beauty of nature you can also enjoy the culture, tradition, settlement and the hospitality of Gurung people. The Kathmandu city tour is also included in the same package. Since the lodges were destroyed by the earthquake; this trek is a homestay trek with local food and accommodation with very basic amenities. However, a full board is ensured during the trek. Local transportation is available up (the starting point of the trek to the Ending) and from Lapubesi village (the ending point of the trek). Private jeep can be arranged on request but requires extra cost.

This trek is perfect for students and anyone looking to do a little volunteer work, while on their way to making a memorable holiday. Come with a group and get a special discount. You can also customize the itinerary as per your requirements and we guarantee 100% departure on each customized package. This trip can be planned at any time of the year. Moreover, for people who are looking for a purely adventurous trek, we offer some of the best deals on Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, and Manaslu trekking packages. Enjoy! Namaste

Leaving Kathmandu Valley you take a long drive to Barpak in Gorkha district. As your vehicle leaves the city, the road dips down and follows a serpentine trail. Enjoy delightful views of rural settlements, rolling hills, and snow-capped peaks stretching on the horizon. Your journey takes you to Gorkha District, an area that occupies an important place in Nepalese history. The unification of modern Nepal began in this mountainous region when Prithivi Narayan Shah, a Gorkha King began his campaign from the hills of Gorkha. The Shah dynasty ruled over Nepal for more than 200 years. The last monarch of Nepal belonged to this dynasty. The vehicle weaves through Barah Kilo, a bustling bazaar area. From here it takes around 4 hours to reach Barpak village. Another historic village, Barpak was the stronghold of the Ghale kings who controlled the trade route that weaved through the Buri Gandaki valley. In the olden days, many travelers and traders traveled to Tibet via the Buri Gandaki valley.

Inhabited by Ghales, Gurungs, Chettris, Brahmin, and others, Barpak is one of the largest villages in the Gorkha district. This hillside village was the epicenter of the deadly earthquake that rocked Nepal on 25 April 2015. After the earthquake, out of 1,200 homes, only four buildings were left standing. Hundreds of villagers lost their lives. The survivors are trying their best to rebuild their lives. Your stay in this village will help revive the local economy. You will be staying at a lodge run by a local.
